Butyltin tri (ethyl hexanoate)
Butyltin tris 2 ethylhexanoate
Monobutyltin tris ethylhexanoate
Butyltin tris (2-ethylhexanoate) can be used as a catalyst in polycondensation reactions, esterification reactions or transesterification reactions, reducing the time required or the reaction temperature. It exhibits demonstrably good catalytic activity at temperatures between 80 and 150 °C.
For example, it is used in the production of saturated and unsaturated polyester resins and can remain in the final product without affecting its properties at a proportional maximum of 0.2%. Additional filtering out is unnecessary.
Butyltin tris (2-ethylhexanoate) is also used to process urethanes, reducing the curing temperature to 140 – 160 °C.
Further application options for the catalyst can be found in ring-opening polymerization reactions or in the synthesis of aromatic polyester polyols for both flexible and rigid polyurethane foams.
Butyltin tris (2-ethylhexanoate) can be used as a catalyst in a wide range of applications. Among them are polyester resins for powder coatings and coil coatings, polyurethanes for adhesives and sealants, as well as use in paints and coatings.
It is a binder in oleochemistry and is generally used as a process additive in various chemical processes, such as the production of plasticizers. It is also used as a catalyst in the synthesis of dioctyl phthalates.
Some products containing butyltin tris (2-ethylhexanoate) are food grade. The tin compound can therefore be used as a catalyst for the production of cross-linked polyester resins that regularly come into contact with food.
